Norman Mailer

Norman Mailer (1923–2007) was arguably the most successful enfant terrible of the American literary scene. He became world-famous with his debut novel "The Naked and the Dead" (1948). He wrote 30 books and worked as a journalist and film director. In his works, he repeatedly took a stand on political issues. He received the National Book Award and his first Pulitzer Prize for "Armies of the Night" (1968). He received his second Pulitzer Prize in 1979 for "The Executioner's Song".
