The Russian House

Ota Filip's fantastic novel brings a great love and its tragic end back to life. Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky spent six years together in Murnau in the so-called Russian House, until this creative relationship came to an end with the beginning of the First World War. The author blurs the lines between reality and dream, the transitions between times are fluid. The result is a colourful, detailed portrait of the lives of these two exceptional artists. We will probably never know what really happened, but Ota Filip's storytelling offers the reader the wonderful pleasure of immersing themselves in the life and suffering of the artist couple, as if they had been there themselves.
