Werner Patzelt

Prof. Dr. Werner J. Patzelt, born in 1953, is a political scientist and emeritus professor at TU Dresden, where he held the chair for Political Systems and Comparative Politics from 1991 to 2019. As a member of the CDU, which he joined in 1994, he maintains an exchange with representatives from across the political spectrum, from Die Linke to the AfD. Patzelt is also known for his political commentaries and analyses in print, radio, and television.
