The weekly children

Jan Josef Liefers talks about his ketamine therapy in early childhood. Sandy Graf was given up for adoption by her mother, and Bernd Liebenau only came home to his parents once a month until he was six years old. They exemplify the approximately 500,000 "Wochenkinder" (weekly children) in the GDR. Infants of single parents, shift workers, or artists were given away as early as six weeks old. The parents did not know that the toddlers were sometimes restrained at night, given tranquilizers, or placed sick in isolation rooms. Many of these former "Wochenkinder" still suffer from the traumatic consequences today.
