The Fechtner Case

Since childhood, Ben Fechtner has lived with a torturous uncertainty: Did his father, a Bonn civil servant, die in an accident – or was it suicide? Then the phone rings. A stranger says: What happened in the GDR in 1986 was no accident. The fall from the window of Leipzig's Hotel Astoria was murder. And a large-scale cover-up that never came to light. Until now.
Together with his sister Karolin, his best friend Christina, and the attractive journalist Mariam, the young parliamentary assistant embarks on a search for clues at the beginning of the 2000s. But he quickly realizes: neither Berlin's political elite nor old GDR cadres want the truth to come out. The deeper he delves, the more he feels: The shadows of division are long. And some accounts are still unsettled.
