Letters to China's Past

A 10th-century mandarin from China travels to the present day with the help of a "time-travel compass." He lands in a modern metropolis, whose name sounds like Min-chen to his ears and which is located in Ba Yan. Confused and curious, he plunges into an adventure whose outcome he does not know. In letters to his friend in the Middle Kingdom, he tells of the strange lives of the "big noses" and tries to interpret observations and events that are initially incomprehensible to him.
