Her image went around the world. Marina Ovsyannikova caused an unprecedented scandal on Russian state television when she, holding her "No War" poster, live on air told viewers that they were being lied to on television and that Putin was waging a brutal war against Ukraine – information that state propaganda had previously hidden from its own population. Initially celebrated worldwide as a hero, she soon found herself at the center of a massive information war. Some declared her a British spy, while others considered her an FSB agent. Against all warnings, she returned to Russia to fight for custody of her 11-year-old daughter. Seven days before the start of the trial, in which she faced ten years in prison, she managed a spectacular escape from Russia.
Marina now tells her own story. It is about an obedient wife and mother who, in the face of the brutal war in Ukraine, felt compelled to follow her conscience and resist Putin's power apparatus. But her message remains in the world and reaches the Russian people in particular: Putin and the Russian media are lying to the Russian people.
