Left-Green opinion-making power

Julia Ruhs was always convinced that she held completely normal opinions – until she became a journalist. As a trainee at ARD, she spoke out against gender-neutral language and later, in a "Tagesthemen" commentary, warned against illegal immigration. She addressed topics that concern many people in the country factually and thoughtfully. But suddenly, she was an outsider in her profession. The reaction was a left-wing "shitstorm," unfortunately a normality nowadays.

Political journalist Julia Ruhs is a reporter for Bayerischer Rundfunk and a columnist for Focus Online. This book is her plea for an open debate culture in which critical and uncomfortable opinions must also be heard. Especially as a journalist, she questions the prevailing zeitgeist, which apparently only seems to allow one direction. And she illustrates why some opinions are loud and others quiet, why conservatives are a rarity in journalism, why journalists consider themselves particularly courageous, yet prefer to go with the flow. And she documents how a profession that preaches neutrality increasingly polarizes.
