Interregnum

The liberal age is ending. We are living in the INTERREGNUM, the time between two political orders. The optimism that followed the collapse of communist regimes has long since given way to an oppressive feeling of decline. Moralism, ideological polarization, and an activist state are replacing classical liberal values. We do not know what will follow the interregnum. However, a look at other countries and continents reveals the elements of a new order: social conservatism in Poland, "Disneyland with the death penalty" in Singapore, or an imperialist Russia that, allied with China, forms a new anti-Western axis. Or are we threatened by a hyper-liberal post-democracy in which the freedom of the individual is subordinated to novel state goals – climate justice, diversity, transhumanism? Which developments can we already observe in Germany?
