"The Uckermark is sold out" – with this sentence from the real estate agent, it becomes instantly clear to the city-weary couple Rosa and Richard: the rural idyll won't materialize anytime soon. But their dream home happiness is found in an old forester's house in the Berlin countryside – and then the construction disaster begins! Handyman and bureaucratic chaos is joined by environmental problems as well as Stasi networks, marital crisis and near bankruptcy: three years full of amusing and indeed dramatic events. Birgit von Heintze, who herself traded urban frustration for country love, looks with wit and depth at all common clichés and the special charm of the East German province.
