The Psychopath Inside Me

Genetic predisposition, not the social environment, shapes a person's character – this is the conviction of neuroscientist James Fallon. However, during an Alzheimer's study, he discovers a scan among the anonymized brain scans that shows the typical structures of a serial killer's brain. The shock becomes even greater when he realizes: It's his own brain! Now he has to completely question his thesis. Apparently, he has the predispositions of a psychopath, e.g., a lack of empathy or a tendency to violence. But his family, friends, and the leisure time meticulously planned by his mother have apparently prevented his dark side from erupting. This realization not only turns his own life upside down but also the entire field of science.
