In this book, Prince Eduard von Anhalt recounts the moving history of his family from 1901 to the present day. His father Ernst Joachim, born in 1901, became a bitter opponent of the Hitler regime, was sent to a concentration camp, and died in Soviet custody in 1947, tragically as a supposed Nazi sympathizer. Eduard himself, born in 1941, led a life in international jet set circles during his "Sturm und Drang" years until he established himself professionally as a journalist and television presenter. After reunification, a tough battle began for the expropriated properties in Saxony-Anhalt. This chronicle of one of Germany's oldest noble families offers surprising insights into the world of high aristocracy and reflects the dramatic upheavals of the 20th century in a very personal way.
