Rolf Nikel

Rolf Nikel was the German ambassador to Poland from 2014 to 2020. During his more than 40-year career in the diplomatic service, he worked a total of 14 years in the Federal Chancellery for Helmut Kohl, Gerhard Schröder, and Angela Merkel. In his assignments at the German missions abroad in Moscow, Paris, and Washington, as well as commissioner of the Federal Government for Disarmament and Arms Control, he also intensively dealt with security policy issues. Since 2020, he has been Vice President of the German Council on Foreign Relations.
