About the Author
Jürgen Großmann (born 1952) studied metallurgy in Clausthal and business administration in Germany and the USA, earning his doctorate in engineering in 1980. His career led him from assistant at Klöckner-Werke to a board member. At 41, he took over the insolvent steelworks Georgsmarienhütte, rehabilitated the company, and built it into a group that today comprises 27 companies and employs around 7000 people. Großmann served as CEO of RWE AG for 5 years and has held numerous supervisory board mandates over the past 15 years. In addition to the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class, he has received other awards and prizes for his political and social engagement.
