All My Peaks
From peak-conqueror to frontier-crosser – Reinhold Messner presents a summary of his life’s work as an alpine mountaineer. This unique volume, featuring photographs and texts, allows us a rare glimpse into his diaries and hitherto unpublished photographic material. It is the account of a life of extremes. The alpine superstar and last great adventurer grants us unprecedented access to the small steps that, gradually, with remarkable persistence, made him the man he is today. „All my Peaks”is set in his native Dolomites, the Western Alps, in South America, Canada, New Guinea and, above all, the Himalayas. Reinhold Messner, born in 1944 in South Tyrol, succeeded in making the first solo ascent of Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen in 1978, and was the first climber to ascend all fourteen „eight-thousanders” (peaks over 8,000 metres above sea level) in 1986. He has made over one hundred first ascents and scaled more than 3000 summits and mountains on all continents. Previous publications at Herbig include his successful books „3 x 8000”, „Race to the Peak” and „My Dolomites”.
The author shares his time between South Tyrol and Munich.
