The Night of the Traders
Novel
As cutting-edge as it gets: a brilliantly realised and profoundly unsettling scenario based on the power of the banks and the threat of global internet terrorism.
Huge sums of money are inexplicably vanishing into cyberspace during computerised transactions between stock exchanges; false share prices lead to panic selling; the total assets of banks are disappearing into a virtual black hole: the investigative trail leads to ‘The Great Antimagus’ – an end-of-the-century terrorist sect that declared war on the media at large and all artificial worlds, until its leader mysteriously disappeared. Now it seems he has returned. And he has a plan that holds an even greater threat to humanity – he is hell-bent on destroying all the money in the world ...
Gert Heidenreich was born in 1944 in Eberswalde, a town in the formerly East German state of Brandenburg. He is a journalist and author, as well as a familiar voice on audio-CDs and radio. Alongside his novels, poetry, and dramas, the one-time president of the German PEN club writes regular articles on the Sahara, Black Africa, India and Central Asia for „Merian”, the classic monthly travel journal. His awards include the Adolf Grimme Award in 1986 and the Marieluise Fleißer Prize in 1998. His most recent published novel was the crime thriller „In the Darkness of Time”, which appeared as part of nymphenburger’s „Dark Side” series.
