Me and My Father
Growing up among the rich, the beautiful and the famous
Kidnapped and spoilt, humiliated and loved – from the outset, the relationship between Allegra and her father Tony Curtis was ambivalent and highly complicated, charged with reluctance. Although she was seven when she went to live with him and grew up in his house, she never got over her parents’ separation. Surrounded by her friends from well-known »in-crowd« families, the little »Hollywood princess« experienced the fascination of the city of dreams, but also its down sides and dark sides. With unsparing candour, great passion and the characteristic family humour, she describes her recently deceased father and the unusual bond that connected them. A moving, highly emotional account from a world in which illusion and reality merge into a fascinating story.
Allegra Curtis was born in Los Angeles, daughter of Tony Curtis (1925–2010) and Christine Kaufmann. She studied acting under Jeff Goldblum, trained as a make-up artist, and worked as a model. Her son Raphael was born in 2003. She divides her time between Germany and Majorca, and writes a regular beauty column for a lifestyle magazine.
