Paths You Never Forget
Discoveries and memories
A FASCINATING SEARCH FOR TRACES
First the 4.5 km long Prater Hauptallee promenade in Vienna, and then the Fahnengasse with its no more than two famous addresses that almost plunged Austria into war: Dietmar Grieser invites us for a gripping revue of well-known and famous routes, and those he discovered himself. He leads us along the „Via Sacra” of the Mariazell pilgrims to the legendary „F-Weg” that saved the life of many artists prosecuted by the Nazis. We stroll along the Kaiserpromenade from Gastein, accompany Mozart on his journey to Prague and Veza Canetti on her way through the Yellow Street. He neither omits controversies about the spectacular renaming of streets nor excursions into the world of postmen and door-to-door salesmen. Distant goals such as A Streetcar Named Desire, Fellini’s La Strada, and the locations of popular TV shows round off Grieser’s local sights.
„For those who love fiction as well as history and its oddities, ‚Paths you never
forget’ is a gift.”
