Adieu Vienna, Bonjour Paris
A novel
Encourages women to realise their dreams Vienna. Paris. Two cities where the lust for life, joy, and love are in the air. Kitty Valentin, the very young, ambitious student, follows her heart and throws herself head over heels into the adventure that is her life. She leaves her homely flat in the centre of Vienna and follows her great love to Paris. Clifford is the picture-perfect man: a celebrated journalist, tall in stature, with greying hair and immeasurable self-confidence. But most of all he is one thing – married. He takes Kitty by storm and lays the world at her feet. Brussels, Zurich, London, from one luxury hotel to the next… a life in the jet set. But soon the façade starts to crumble: alcohol, iracibility, and envy cast their first shadows, and Kitty needs all her courage, optimism, and talent in order to free herself from this passionate, but miserable affair and start an independent and successful life.
Dr Susanna Kubelka, born in Linz, Austria, in 1942, has been living and working in Paris since 1981. Her first book, Over Forty at last (1980), was a worldwide success. It was followed by another three cheerful, erotic novels, most of which were set in the artistic milieu of Paris. They include Ophelia Learns to Swim (1987) and, most recently, Mimi Tulipan’s Indian Summer (2005). With Adieu Vienna, Bonjour Paris, her ninth book, the author presents her most personal novel so far.
