Tu felix austria
New stories from history
Learn all about Austrian history and the private lives of its great figures from a renowned authority
"Tu felix Austria nube!" Led by this motto of an exceedingly successful marriage policy, the Habsburgs managed to consolidate their power and extend their empire over the centuries. Of course this venture was not always peaceable, and the struggle for crown and sceptre was a fierce one, as Sigrid-Maria Größing vividly describes in this new volume of her bestselling historical series. She portrays great moments in history with the in-depth knowledge and absorbing details that we have come to expect from her. Giving us an intimate glimpse into the private lives of Europe’s great historical figures, Größing succeeds in reviving the spirit of bygone times.
Sigrid-Maria Größing, PhD, was born in Sulzbach-Rosenberg, Bavaria, and studied German and history. She has been working as a full-time author since 1990, publishing about twenty books to date, which have been translated into eight languages – all largely on the history of the Habsburgs. Previous publications with Amalthea: Maximilian I, Wir hätten in einem Rosengarten sitzen können (We Could Have Been Sitting in a Rose Garden), Karl V (Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor), and, most recently, the major bestsellers AEIOU (Joy and Sorrow in the Austrian Imperial Family), Um Krone und Liebe (For the Crown and for Love), Um Macht und Glück (For Power and for Love), and Der goldene Apfel (The Golden Apple).
