India
From the soaring Himalayan mountain ranges to thelush tropical regions in the South – there is plenty in the way of formidable landscapes in India: the bizarre desert expanses of Rajasthan, the vast river deltas of the Ganges and Brahmaputra, and the precipitous rock faces of the Western Ghats, to name but a few highlights. It is a land of stark contrasts – on the one hand the modern megacities such as Delhi and Mumbai, where the insistent honking of the colourful rickshaws blends with the soothing chimes from the temples, and on the other the endless expanses of rural regions, swathed in verdant foliage. Everywhere you look you will come across im - posing mogul edifices, Hindu temples and colonial fortresses waiting to be explored. This photo book guides the reader through this staggering country, often described as an „assault on the senses”, with dazzling photographs. Johann Scheibner is a travel photographer based in Berlin.
