Africa and the Art of Advertising
A fresh look at the world of commerce – presenting an exuberant kaleidoscope of enterprising African advertising
Natascia Zullino came across a rich variety of colourful shop signs and murals – each one hand-painted and unique – on her travels through the continent of Africa. Luckily for us, she captured them with her camera lens, her enthusiasm for the imaginative advertising she spotted in countries such as Togo, Liberia, and Guinea leading to the creation of a remarkable collection of photographs. With its images arranged according to subject, this book gives us an entertaining insight into the ways such diverse businesses and products as soft drinks, mobile phones, wedding accessories, car mechanics and hairdressing can be promoted using symbolism that
is both unique to the country of their origin and internationally recognised. An unusual ompendium of wonderfully realised advertising ideas.
Natascia Zullino, the product of Italian-German parentage, grew up in Switzerland and studied economics. When she is not on a mission with the International Red Cross Committee she lives in the Lebanon, her adopted homeland.
